Introduction

You might not have known there was a Web 1.0 and there are some who say that we are well on the way to Web 3.0. So, exactly what is Web 2.0? And, how can it be utilized to enhance learning? After completing this webquest, you will have gained a better understanding of some of the applications that make up Web 2.0.

The main question you will be asked to find an answer for is:

 

What is Web 2.0 and how can I use some of these applications/tools to enhance learning in my classroom?

 

Task

Let’s return to the main question now that you’ve spent some time covering the basics. Web 2.0 is ever changing and even the experts cannot know all that it has to offer. Each group member will become an expert on the characteristics of one Web 2.0 application or tool. Each of you will explore the links listed below your application/tool and complete the following:

 

Blog Expert

1. Review the Wikipedia definition
2. Take a look at some blogs and websites related to blogging
3. Be able to define a Blog in your own words
4. Add a comment on a few blogs
5. Suggest how teachers and/or students might use blogs in the classroom

 

Wiki Expert

1. Review the Wikipedia definition
2. Explore some wikis and websites related to using wikis
3. Be able to define a wiki is in your own words
4. Use the How to Quickly Wiki with PBwiki to create a wiki site for your group
5. Suggest how teachers and/or students might use wikis in the classroom

 

Podcast Expert

2. Explore some online podcasts
3. Be able to explain what a podcast is and generally how the process works

Conclusion

Your research is finished and your team is chock-full of Web 2.0 experts. It's time to answer the main question. Discuss and come to consensus on any differences, if possible. If not, clearly explain both sides of any differences as part of your final product.
